Does it help if tag pages are indexed or not?

Should I disallow the /tag pages in the robots.txt so that Google will stop indexing?

The main problem is that Google has indexed all the tag pages from my site but it takes a lot of time to find and index the actual questions.

Have you disallowed tag pages in your robots.txt? How can I remove tag pages from the sitemap too?

Found how to remove the tag pages from the sitemap (there is an option!).

You don't have to disallow indexing of tag pages, you just need to prevent them from showing in SERP. To do this use SEO META TAGS plugin.
