I am getting a lot of spam registrations from spam bots. I have additional registration field for user location. This specific spam bot uses different user names, emails and IPs but same text for the registration field I have added. Is it possible to filter the user registration by this registration field? I just want to block registration if a specific text is used in the additional registration field. Any programmers help is highly appreciated.

The plugin doesn't have any options. Just install and enable it. No need to do anything else.

In addition to the Honeypot plugin that was suggested in gold-developer's comment, you can also try:

https://github.com/pupi1985/q2a-kk-abc: this is just a fork I'm maintaining that provides a captcha that seems to be harder for bots to bypass than reCapatcha

https://www.question2answer.org/qa/98717: this plugin will do some checks on the IP address and email of the registering user against SPAM bot databases and reject the registration.

Unfortunately I cannot confirm that kk-abc is working better than reCaptcha. I switched from reCaptcha to kk-abc a week ago, and the amount of spammer registrations on my site more than doubled (18 this week vs an average of 8 per week over the past 10 weeks).

I may still stick with it, though, b/c it's more privacy-friendly than reCaptcha and I don't like handing my user's data over to Google.

q2a-kk-abc is working very well, thanks for maintaining that. @pupi1985
