how to hide "tag" from the url when set the tags as categories

The admin when select set tags as categories in the admin panel the link will be like this

question2answer.org/qa/tag/plugins

instead of

question2answer.org/qa/plugins

So how to hide this segment from the url to be like the categories or even change it like this
