Why answers are NOT ranked based on number of votes ?

Question

If you check any of the questions with multiple answers, answers are not ranked based on the number of votes but rather on the time they were submitted. What is the point of voting up an answer if  it doesn't make it rank higher ?

There is an option to do this in Q2A, just so you know. Why it is not turned on in this site, I don't know.

As I said in the comment above, this is possible in Q2A.

Under Admin > Viewing, go to the option "Sort answers by" and choose "Votes".

Not sure exactly what you mean, but it is sorted by the total vote score. If you have 3 upvotes and 1 downvote, that counts as 2. I suppose that's what you mean by "vote result".
