Does comments notification currently work?

Emailing in general is working because I get emails for new questions.  However does the option

 

Email me (my@email) if my answer is selected or commented on

 

Currently work properly?  I do not get new emails when my answers are commented upon

It certainly should do. Comment on this and I'll confirm I got a notification!

So if I'm not getting notifications even though the check box is ticked what could be going wrong?

You getting notification only if your question or comment is commented by someone. So now you should get mail about my comment on your comment.

OK now I'm getting the notification.  However in my personally installed version it's not working when a new comment is added.  What could be happening?

Are you getting any other emails from your installation? And did you modify any of the core files?

It was a problem with PHP mailer.  I switched to external mail and it's fine
