Converting two column Snow theme to three column

Question

I am thinking of adding another column to the snow theme, so that it appears to the left of the question lists / answers,

 

It appears to primarily involve modifying the css file - are there any other files I need to modify and anything I should watch out for?

i think you need to rewrite core from qa-theme.php to add another column to snow theme
