Customizing the fontello icons of the SnowFlat theme

Some of the icons (still wonder why not all) are replaced by font icons of http://fontello.com/

I would like to add more icons to the existing list, e.g. a close-icon.

Is there a short way to do it?

I thought of impor-ting the existing fontello.svg and adding the icons I need, but does not seem to work...
