Using a function by external software to output something?

Question

What I need is just a very simple Example. In external function section, an example is given to create a post, but for test purpouse I need just a function that displays the most recent question, or any content stored in the database.

Or is there any generic documentation?

You can simply run the query and fetch the data to dispaly on the external page. I wold like to know if there is another way.

actually it was a beginner's question on how to integrate easilly to wordpress or any other CMS using snippets to call Q2A functions to display basic items
