Format CATEGORIES widget in sidebar

How can I specifically format the categories widget layout in the sidebar?

I'd like to make my main (1st level) categories bolder than the sub-categories (2nd level) that appear after clicking on a main category.

Take a look at the CSS classes wrapped around each level of category in the HTML code - you will be able to use those to target the formatting as you wish.
