Is it possible to include a link for images?

When I upload an image, some wide images appear really small and are not readable.  I changed the max image width from 600 to 1200 in qa-plugin/wysiwyg-editor/qa-wysiwyg-upload.php.  Now the images are clearer.  But to see that, that I have to right click on the image, copy the link and open in a new tab.

I want to provide a link for all images.  When that link is clicked, it should open the image directly, preferably in a new tab.

I know that Q2A sanitizes the content in the post, both while posting and also while reading.
 And this is done for security reasons.  I do see benefit in doing this.  So, if this has to be done, it must be in a safe way.
