Techniques used by other forums to control spam, should Q2A implement them?

I left MyBB due to the spamming issue, captchas including Recaptcha can't stop spam and I got like thousands everyday. I'm little nervous when started using the Q2A but I rarely get any spam posts but I still get them. I'm not sure its from bot or real humans though.

Here are some of the options which are used by other forums to control spam?

1. Disallow posting content which has link in it.

Used by: Fluxbb, Simple Machines Forum and few more. Those forums has different options to configure but working is basically the same.

2. Avoiding Bots from Creating An Account.

Used by: phpBB and few more.

3. Hiding Links From Search Engines & Visitors (non-logged in users).

Used by: MyBB and few more. Even though spam links are nofollow, they are good to be hidden.

You do not need to do anything extra in latest Q2A for spam. Only thing to do is perhaps to set minimum point to post without moderation to be 101 (assuming 100 as base), so that all users are confirmed genuine before they can post without moderation.

Yeah, I have to give it a try. I like the feature but it will be good, if only the posts of new members with links gets into the moderation. Since a big forum will get a lot of new members, the admin can't be there always.

yes, option 2 is already there with Recaptcha. It works really well and hardly any spam account is being created now unlike the days of 1.6 where it was very common.

Options 1 and 3 are specific to the forum as like in my Q2A I do encourage genuine links to be posted. In some sites it is better to have them hidden. Anyway creating such a filter plugin won't be a difficult task as there is a filter module in Q2A.

Yes, the spams are rare. In my case, I get it like 1 or 2 per week. I want it to be zero. Option 2 might be good along with Recaptcha for those who want only the real user accounts in the database. I every time delete the accounts of spam users. I want to know how many real users are using my site and how many of them are active.
