Where should I take a look in order to change the behavior of a widge of the markdown editor?

Question

I want to change the behavior of the "link" widget of the markdown editor (or to create a new one). I would like it considered the following behaviour:

1) If the link belongs to another site, it keeps the usual behaviour.

2) If the link belongs to a question of my site, it should be able to recognize it, to provide "stable" links and to recover automatically from the database the title, the body and finally the link to the question.

I have no idea how to proceed with this and few guidelines would help me a lot.
