If user enters xyz.com via basic editor, how to make it a link?

I'm offering the basic editor to my users for now. If they type in xyz.com, I'd like it to automatically convert to an active link. I don't want users to have to bother with typing http://xyz.com in order to make a link. Any ideas on how to make this possible? Thanks.
