compiled without multibyte string support

In the General tab of Admin panel I got a message just below the Site Language as follows -

The installed version of PHP was compiled without multibyte string support. Searching will be less effective for non-Roman characters.

what does this error means and how to solve it.

Answer 1

It means that the PHP running on your server does not include some functionality which allows Q2A to deal well with non-English characters. If you have a non-English site I recommend you talk to your hosting provider about it.
