Markdown editor and safety

Is the markdown editor safe, the reason I am asking is because youtube plugin which uses embed tag works. As far as I know HTMLlawed strips all such function.

If youtube embed works, can anyother embed be made to work?

I'm assuming you mean this YouTube plugin by NoahY? That plugin uses a layer, which runs after the Markdown has converted the post. So the Markdown editor will strip out all embed tags that the user put in, then the YouTube plugin will convert any links to use the appropriate code.

So it is perfectly safe.
