Using 1.5 beta 2. No matter how you assign permissions for hiding/closing posts (Admins, Moderators only), if someone is a registered user they can still close their own posts or hide them. I don't see why that should possible, if they don't have permission to do so. Basically the permissions are not applied if this is your own post.

This is as intended - whoever asked a question can decide to 'unask' it. The permission is regarding closing someone else's question.

OK. I understand where you are coming from, but I'd have to disagree from a business perspective. If you're running a Q&A website you don't want users to be able to hide questions after they ask them. These questions have value for both other users and SEO. If people who are simply registered users start hiding questions they previously asked, it can conceivably cause all sorts of problems. Of course, someone can always email in to hide a question, but that's unlikely since all questions are pretty much anonymous.

osseonews, what you want to do should be possible with a plugin. I was intending on making something so that older questions cannot be hidden/reshown.

Disgruntledgoat, yes something like the plugin you are suggesting is a great idea. I'm not too good of a programmer (can do advanced theme and hack some core stuff), so if you do a plugin for that, please post. I assume the logic of the program is that you just check the date of the post and have some sort of if/else
