That depends on how that checkmark is defined in your theme and/or how it's being rendered into the web page.
In SnowFlat for example the checkmark comes from the file images/answer-select.png in the theme folder. To resize it you need to resize the image and probably also adjust the dimensions of the containing element(s) in the CSS (qa-theme.css in the theme folder). Other themes may require different changes.
