I install q2a in my root directory but i want to customized it's homepage how can i do that...

plz not suggest me to admin>layout>Custom content in home page instead of Q&A

my customization not work by the above process show me another way for customizing my homepage...

i also try to code .index file but it's not working because i install it in my root directory plz help
