Basic search plugin is still searching

Question

I am designing a plugin for customized search. Basic search is still returning the result . When I delete the basic search file then my plugin works fine.
What could be the problem?

Based on the symptoms, most likely you haven't selected your search module in the Use search module setting in the admin/lists section.
