How to understand the code of question2answer easily?

I have learned PHP and I want to develop my own question2answer site. The PHP code seems to be very difficult to understand as it doesn't have a proper framework.

Can you suggest me as to how I should start and can easily understand the PHP, Javascript code from question2answer project repository.
