Why Q2A is not being promoted on social media

Question

The best way to get new users for a community is promotion . If it is not promoted on social media new users will not join and the community will not get more new users .

What do you think , It would not be a right decision to promote it on social media to attract new users .

Usually promotion cost money but official q2a facebook, twitter etc. pages would be great idea IMO. Main q2a page already has 295 mentions, maybe "like" buttons in not annoying places would have positive impact :)

I agree that it needs money and time both to promote but it worths to do so for a bigger community like q2a .

Not sure what we have on Facebook but I can certainly set one up.

To be honest I'm not really sure how well this stuff works for software. I don't "like" any software on Facebook and I don't know anyone that does. But it's good for updates, new versions etc.

This is a big unproven claim. I would not join if there would be "facebook". I would join if there are smart people!

Have you ever seen a facebook page of stackoverflow? But it is on the 56th most visited site worldwide currently.

I did not mean to say that - "No body will join if there is no facebook page" .
Plz dont misunderstand . Rather I am saying like if there is a facebook page , it would be lot easier to reach more people . Thats how social media works . Now q2a getting traffic from organic search from google and from some other websites where they mention about a well developed forum software .

For developer prospective it does not really matter if there is a facebook account or not , but for them who dont have any idea like there is a awesome software like this or not it would matter .  Also for giving updates , keeping users engaged social media is the well proved way .

but most you have to  target on targeted people area

Ex:- if u r maintain students related site more target on students groups and communities
