Plugin suggestion: Avoid multiple gmail registrations with extra dots "."

Question

As you may or may not know, gmail in its infinite wisdom (and disregarding the need of forums/qa's) allows first.last@gmail.com to be equal to firstlast@gmail.com.   You can even do f.i.r.stlast@gmail.com.  

So spammers can use the same gmail to register multiple times.

Need a plugin to prevent this, anyone?

Most spammers use completely different mails, ips and users names. Is your site experiencing problem you mentioned ?
