Where to modify to pick random avatars at registration?

Question

I belive it would't it be fun to pick random avatars for users at the time they register rather than only one defualt avatar.

Say we have a handful of image files and our plugin picks a random image from the set of image files in the local directory of our plugin. How can we do that?
