What type of search logic is used with the search field?

What type of logic is being used to search the QA site?  For example, if were to add a few log snips from text file, I would like to put in a specific string into the search and get back very close matches.  Instead, I am getting various results with Q's that are not related at all.

How can I improve the search accuracy?
