Can ONLY the main page be blocked for unlogged users?

Question

I like how Facebook and Twitter have a minimalist introduction for unlogged users. It helps new visitors understand what the site is about and encourage frequent visitors to create an account. Aside from that, every other page excluding the main can be normally viewed which is great for SEO and people who comes from search engines.

Can it be done on Q2A? A completely custom front page with a brief explanation, login bar and sign up form?

You can do it via an advanced theme that performs a redirect if (($this->request=='') && !qa_is_logged_in()) in one of the early functions that is called.
