I saw a while back someone was creating a Newsletter plugin, but it sounded like a different sort of project.  This one creates a dedicated HTML newsletter that is sent out to people every x days if they opt-in on their user page.  Kind of like the book plugin, only it just gives the top questions, answers and comments for the period (comment-voting plugin recommended)

Let me know what you think, it's here:

I very much like the idea but I'm getting an error.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function qa_error_log() in /home/dack/public_html/MuscleQA.com/qa-plugin/NoahY-q2a-newsletter-2ad5348/qa-plugin.php on line 32

Oops, sorry :) should be fixed now.

I think it's a good idea, but I suggest calling it a "digest". I think that more accurately reflects what you are doing, and also helps distinguish it from the other plug-in you mentioned (presumably at www.question2answer.org/qa/9921/what-would-you-like-to-see-in-an-newsletter-plug-in) which may be more of a newsletter plug-in.

Just as examples, Quirky and Quora call this type of thing a "digest".

Personally, I find the concept of "a weekly digest" quite appealing.

I agree completely! Actually I am having trouble because all my users want a 'daily-digest' but this is not an option

From a marketing point of view, most Q&A sites are not going to have high activity rates unless they can proactively and automatically reach out to users and keep them engaged in a site. A digest is a great way to do that, and the lack of a digest here is a huge shortcoming.

We are using this as a 'daily digest' and it is sending with the proper template, but it is not pulling any questions into it.

Also we are worried that if there are no new questions, then it will send out old questions or send out empty.
