Does upvoting or downvoting have an affect on where the content my appear?

To clarify my question a bit. When users upvote or downvote a question or comment does it affect where the question appears? For an example if a question is downvoted does it get pushed down the list of questions? If a question is upvoted does it get pushed up the list of questions?

I was also thinking that if the voting feature has no relationship to the content, then it's merely just for points. I tried searching for my answer but, didn't find anything similiar.

When you give positive or negative points to a question or answer, the other voteup or votedown mark is hidden.

I don't want this to happen and I would like to have both symptoms

Seems like there are many good cases where site admins would not want to use a down-vote option. There should be a setting for vote button option, where we can make it an up-vote only. Up vote accomplishes the desired effect to promote the best content giving the site a more positive user vibe, and having down-vote button can distract users from just promoting the best answers. Down votes are negative and redundant. When we vote for political candidates for example you only have the option to vote for what you like. You don't vote for what you don't like.

I don't see an option to allow anyone (anonymous or guest) voting on answers or questions. Seems like this would be a nice option to have. For example a niche site where admin only posts the questions but allows answers and answer voting by anonymous (anyone, no registration required).

On my forum I'm trying to configure the following voting permissions:

Upvote questions: all registered users
Upvote answers: registered users with at least 25 points
Downvote questions and answers: registered users with at least 50 points

However, the settings don't seem to work the way I expected. Instead, the downvote permissions apply to upvotes too. Is that intentional? (looks like a bug to me)

And how/where would I fix that?

Is there any way to allow the quest also voting for questions ? I searching for the solution but many user asking but there was no answer. In the administrator panel i see the permission settings but there i can only allow voting for question for registered users

Strange problem with buttons when changing public function a_item_content($a_item)

So i edited a_item_content function because i had to include voting buttons right next to content for styling issues ($this->voting($a_item);) so my code looks like this:

Now voting buttons are inside a_item_content but somehow "ask related question", "edit" and "flag" buttons are not active when they are pressed. How they can be related to a_item_content function ?

Why not implement AJAX voting. Every time I vote I have to reload the page to see the vote count update.

We'd like to use Q2A for our internal feature request management. Instead of giving our customers access to q2a, our service staff should vote up a feature, each time a customer requests it, e.g. by phone.

Maybe a plugin could help for this.

Any idea to solve this would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

In a marketing book I read lately that nobody enters an empty restaurant easily.

So I thought of the q2a-Like-buttons that all show "0" as default.

Maybe more people would do votings if there is already a "1" shown?

Is this possible with a minor change somewhere, like changing a tiny if structure in the voting system? This request is not completly unreasonable and I would wish question2answer would provide a checkbox setting for "Allow user to vote on own posts".

If you wonder why we require this? We use question2answer as a FAQ, Q&A but also knowledge base because of its tagging, detection of duplication, detection of similar posts features. This means we have several questions answered by the same user. In a case where only one answer is possible and correct this is fine but for cases where there are multiple completly acceptable answers we wished that the voting system would give a feedback on the recieved quality of the different answers. Currently the creator of multiple answers can not show which one he favors more!

What about a kind of model form that pop when users downvote an answer to explain why they downvoted ?

It is frustrating to see his answer getting downvoted without any word about. It could help us improve our future answers.

maybe by default some checkbox like "unapropried answer", "not enough details", "I do not understand this answer", etc.
