How to integrate geshi

I was thinking to integrate geshi syntax highlighter.In the code when the user submits a question or an answer it can pass through the geshi engine,there geshi can parse the code

now where in this script can the user input be taken to a php variable,that can then be passed to geshi

where should the output of the php variable be taken back into this script

the form can be modified with a check box to indicate the language or no code and that too can be passed to geshi for action

any help

or any other idea
